Properly addressing cracks in concrete is necessary before applying any coating. It is imperative that the installer understands that a coating will not structurally stabilize any concrete or permanently repair cracks. Not all cracks are treatable, and in some cases the concrete will have to replaced rather than resurfaced.
It is important to know the reason for the crack's existence. For example, if a tree root beneath the slab is forcing the slab upward and causing it to crack, the only true fix would be to remove or redirect the tree root from beneath the slab. It is important to know that cracks are never guaranteed to not return. Super-Krete products are not warranted against crack occurences.

All cracks in concrete must be addressed before applying any coating. It is important to know the reason for the crack’s existence. For example, if a tree root beneath the substrate is forcing the slab upward and causing it to crack, the only true fix would be to remove or redirect the tree root from beneath the slab. It is important to know that cracks are never guaranteed to not return. Super-Krete® products are not warranted against crack occurrences or reflection.
To perform the Super-Krete recommended Crack Treatment System:
1. Remove all loose particles from the crack and chase with a vacuum or blower. If crack is filled with dirt wash it out thoroughly and allow the crack to dry overnight. Follow Super-Krete Specification S-1 Surface Preparation using S-12000 Heavy Duty Degreaser and S-1300 Pene-Krete.
2. Mix Bond-Kote with clean water in a 5 gallon pail to achieve a pourable mixture with a flowable consistency. Pour Bond-Kote over the crack and to fill it and cover the surface area 5 inches wide. Then embed a piece of 6” Elastique Matting into the wet Bond-Kote, completely covering the crack 3” on either side.
3. Apply Bond-Kote mixture over the Elastique Matting and feather the edges with a trowel, brush or squeegee.
This crack treatment system is designed to be coated over. Follow crack treatment applications with the desired Super-Krete overlay system. If crack was caused by not having expansion joints (expansion joints should be present every 10 feet), a full slab cut must be made or cracks may reappear through coatings.
